Manchester United defender Raphael Varane has reportedly held talks with manager Erik ten Hag and sorted out the differences between the two.
A report from Football Insider has claimed that there was a bust-up between Raphael Varane and Eril ten Hag. The French defender was unhappy with the Dutch manager’s team selection. He had been dropped at times this season in favour of Jonny Evans, and the former Real Madrid star was not happy with this situation.
It seems that the two have now cleared the air with fresh talks, and the defender will now focus on performing for Manchester United during the second half of the campaign. The former Real Madrid star has proven himself at the highest level with club and country and he has won major trophies over the years.
If he can recapture his form and sharpness, he could be an outstanding option for Manchester United at the back. The Red Devils will have to improve defensively to keep their hopes of UEFA Champions League qualification alive, and Varane could make a big difference for them in the remaining weeks.
The defender has been linked with a move away from Manchester United in recent months. But he ended up staying beyond the January transfer window. It will be interesting to see if he can get his Manchester United career back on track and nail down a starting spot in the coming weeks.
The French international currently earns £340,000 per week at Manchester United, and the Red Devils will want him to repay that on the pitch. It remains to be seen whether ten Hag is prepared to give him regular opportunities now. The Manchester manager has previously had a fallout with Jadon Sancho as well.
The England international has now been loaned out to Borussia Dortmund. Given the lack of quality and depth at the back, Varane settling his differences with the Manchester United manager could not have come at a better time. With Lisandro Martinez out injured, the Frenchman could step up and lead the backline for the Premier League side.
He is undoubtedly a world-class player but has not been able to make the desired impact in the Premier League. It will be interesting to see if he can showcase his qualities at a high level in the coming months.
