West Ham United make approach for Emile Smith Rowe

West Ham United are interested in acquiring the services of 23-year-old Arsenal playmaker Emile Smith Rowe.

According to a report by The Guardian, West Ham United want to reinforce their attack in the ongoing window and they have their eyes set on Emile Smith Rowe. The 23-year-old attacker hasn’t had the best of times at Arsenal of late and the Hammers are keen on acquiring his services on loan.

Smith Rowe has been at Arsenal since his childhood days and he came up the ranks at some pace. The 23-year-old made it to their first team in the summer of 2020. In the initial years, he showed signs of great progress and was expected to reach great heights.

Unfortunately, things haven’t gone according to plan for the English forward. He has struggled with injuries and of late, hasn’t been a regular under Mikel Arteta. He has only featured in 12 matches in all competitions and has been on the pitch for just 246 minutes. The lack of game time isn’t doing him any good and a move elsewhere could help his cause.

West Ham United are keen on having the 23-year-old in their ranks as they look to reinforce their attack in the ongoing transfer window. The Hammers have lost Lucas Paqueta to an injury and his absence is a big blow for David Moyes’ team. As a result, the West Ham boss wants someone who can help them cope with the absence of the Brazilian international.

They have approached Arsenal to sign Smith Rowe on loan. While a loan move will surely benefit the English forward, the Gunners are unlike to sanction his exit unless they find a capable replacement.

Arteta’s team don’t really have much depth in attack and Smith Rowe could prove to be an important player when games come thick and fast in the second half of the season. But, if they manage to bring in someone who can help them maintain depth, a move to the Hammers could prove vital for the 23-year-old’s career.
