Aston Villa make approach for Giovanni Reyna

Aston Villa have enquired about the services of 21-year-old Borussia Dortmund attacking midfielder Giovanni Reyna.

According to a report by Football Transfers, Aston Villa are looking to add more firepower to their ranks in the ongoing transfer window, and they have their eyes set on Giovanni Reyna. The 21-year-old’s future at Borussia Dortmund is uncertain and he could be on his way out in the ongoing transfer window.

Who is Giovanni Reyna?

Giovanni Reyna was one of the biggest prospects in world football a few years back. But of late, things have not gone according to plan for him. His recent performances have resulted in him being just another squad player, and he has not been getting enough first-team action.

In the ongoing season, he has been on the pitch for just 321 minutes in his 12 appearances. His situation at Borussia Dortmund has not helped his market value one bit. While the 21-year-old still has around 18 months left on his deal, it looks like there is no future for him at the Bundesliga club.

While they would have preferred to negotiate his departure next summer, the arrival of Jadon Sancho on loan from Manchester United has not helped his cause, and a move in January is on the cards. There are multiple clubs interested in him and Unai Emery’s Aston Villa have also entered the race.

Premier League Calling?

Aston Villa have been doing wonders in the ongoing season. They are currently third in the Premier League and are just two points off the top. As a result, Emery is trying his best to further bolster his squad and push for the silverware.

While Reyna might not be at his best, the Villans feel he could turn things around. In his 609 minutes of Bundesliga action last season, the 21-year-old has nine goal contributions, suggesting that he surely has it in him. And, with the USMNT international available for a bargain fee of around €15-20 million, Villa are willing to push for his services.

Aston Villa have already enquired about the 21-year-old and are expected to keep making moves over the next few days as there are less than two weeks left before the window shuts.
