Celtic interested in signing Caoimhin Kelleher, Premier League trio also keen

Celtic are keen on signing 25-year-old Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher amidst interest from Brentford, Brighton and Wolves.

According to a report by Daily Mail, Celtic are keen on signing a new goalkeeper, and they have their eyes set on Liverpool’s Caoimhin Kelleher. While the Scottish club would love to have the 25-year-old in their ranks, they will have to battle it out with Brentford, Brighton and Wolves for his signatures.

Caoimhin Kelleher and his Liverpool Travails

Kelleher came up the ranks at Ringmahon Rangers before joining the youth ranks of Liverpool in the summer of 2015. He went up the ranks at the Merseyside club at some pace and made it to their first team in the summer of 2019.

While he has gone from strength to strength over the years, the 25-year-old is not yet the number one, and he is unlikely to be the Liverpool number one for a few more years, as Alisson Becker recently hinted that we would like to play for another decade.

The 25-year-old has featured in 11 matches this season and has done a decent job. But, he knows that he might not be a Liverpool number one anytime soon. As a result, a move away from the club in search of regular first-team action could be on the cards.

The Merseyside club value him a lot and they will not want to part ways with him. But, if he wants to be the number one elsewhere, they might not stand in his way. However, any club will have to pay a significant amount to sign the Irish international, who still has over three years left on his deal.

Where Next?

Celtic could be a potential destination for the 25-year-old. The Scottish club are interested in signing him as they look for a potential replacement for Joe Hart at Celtic Park, with the 36-year-old’s contract running out at the end of this season. He could be an ideal fit for Celtic, but it won’t be easy to sign him.

While the Irishman is yet to decide his future, if he does push for a move away from Liverpool, the Scottish club will also face competition from Premier League outfits Brentford, Brighton, and Wolves who are all looking to reinforce the goalkeeping position.

David Raya is unlikely to be at Brentford next season even if Arsenal decide against signing him. As a result, the Bees need a new number one. Meanwhile, Brighton and Wolves believe they need an upgrade. And, they feel Kelleher’s experience of playing in England makes him an ideal fit for them.
