Giovani Lo Celso will not leave Tottenham in January

Tottenham Hotspur have no intentions of parting ways with Giovani Lo Celso in the upcoming winter transfer window.

According to Dean Jones via GIVEMESPORT, Tottenham Hotspur are unlikely to let Giovani Lo Celso leave in January. The 27-year-old has revived himself of late, and he might have an important part to play in Ange Postecoglou’s team in the second half of the season. As a result, they might not sanction his departure in January.

Giovani Lo Celso and a Rollercoaster Ride at Tottenham

After proving himself as Real Betis, Giovani Lo Celso joined Spurs in the summer of 2019 on a season-long loan. His impressive performances resulted in the move being made permanent in the following summer. The North London club forked out £60 million to land him at the club.

The Argentine attacking midfielder was expected to be the next big thing at Spurs, but he failed to get going. Lo Celso struggled for form in the initial years, and he never really became a regular. Eventually, he was sent out on loan to Villarreal.

The 27-year-old returned to his parent club in the summer and was expected to seal a permanent move away from the club. However, there was limited interest in his services despite his decent performances in La Liga.

Lo Celso picked up a hamstring injury, which ruled him out of action throughout September. Spurs might have failed to offload him in the summer, but they were ready to sell him in the winter for a fee of around £15-20 million. However, a lot has changed of late.

Will Tottenham Sell Giovani Lo Celso in January?

The 27-year-old has found his way back into the mix thanks to injuries and suspensions. He has been in sensational touch and has even found the back of the net against Aston Villa and Manchester City of late. Lo Celso’s recent performances have made him an important part of Ange Postecoglou’s first team.

Given the lack of depth in the team, the Australian manager now seems keen on having him in his ranks at least until the end of the season. According to Jones, Lo Celso is now an important squad player at Spurs. He still might not be a regular starter but is expected to get regular first-team minutes. As a result, a January exit for the Argentine international seems unlikely.
