Crystal Palace are keen on acquiring the services of 28-year-old Newcastle United right winger Jacob Murphy.
According to a report by Football Insider, Crystal Palace are keen on having Jacob Murphy in their ranks. The Eagles are looking to reinforce their squad in the winter transfer window, and the 28-year-old Newcastle United winger is a key target for them.
Murphy joined Newcastle United back in the summer of 2017 from Norwich City for a reported fee of £12 million, and he currently pocked £35,000 per week. Over the years, he has featured in 158 matches for the Magpies despite spending a significant amount of time out on loan at West Bromwich Albion and Sheffield Wednesday.
The 28-year-old might not be one of their stars but has found his place in Eddie Howe’s setup. The former England youth international is a valuable squad player who has five goal contributions in nine outings. His impressive performances have not gone unnoticed and there are other clubs in the Premier League that might have a bigger role for him.
Crystal Palace are one of the clubs keen on having Jacob Murphy in their ranks. The Eagles are looking for depth out wide on the flanks, and the 28-year-old winger is a key target heading into the January window. His versatility is one of the reasons why Palace are quite serious about their pursuit.
Murphy is naturally a right winger, but he can play on the left flank as well as a right-back. While his arrival will bolster their right flank, his versatility gives the Eagles’ boss more options to play with.
Palace have already made an enquiry about his price tag and availability as the transfer window approaches. The 28-year-old might not be a regular starter at Newcastle but he is an important player for Eddie Howe. And, with more than three years left on his deal, it will be interesting to see if the Magpies are willing to let him leave.
