Takehiro Tomiyasu uninterested in Arsenal exit

Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu has been linked with a move away from the club owing to a lack of game time.

Takehiro Tomiyasu has struggled for regular first-team action, and he has been linked with an exit from Arsenal. However, Fabrizio Romano has claimed on Caught Offside that the Japanese international is not looking to leave the North London club yet and is happy in the Premier League.

Apparently, Arsenal are planning to keep him at the club, and they could discuss new terms with the player. Tomiyasu has been a useful squad player for Arsenal. So, it is no surprise that the Gunners want to keep him.

Romano said on CaughtOffside, “I don’t think Tomiyasu is looking to move elsewhere. It’s Arsenal’s plan to keep him and he’s happy there. I think it’s just about discussing new terms but there are currently no issues from what I’m told.”

He is versatile enough to operate as a central defender as well as a full-back. He could be a key player for Mikel Arteta during injuries and rotation. Keeping him at the club for the long term would be a wise move for Arsenal.

However, the Japanese international will want to play more often, and it remains to be seen whether Arsenal are prepared to give him the opportunities he needs. He is certainly good enough to start in the Premier League, and it will be interesting to see if he can force his way into the starting lineup in the coming months.

Arsenal managed to challenge for the league title last season, and they will be hoping to compete at the highest level in the coming seasons as well. They will need quality squad players like Tomiyasu in order to sustain a title challenge.

His desire to continue at Arsenal will certainly come as a boost for the North London club, and they can focus on strengthening the other areas of their squad now. The Gunners should look to bring in a quality midfielder and a striker when the transfer window reopens in January. Arsenal are currently on top of the Premier League table and will hope to stay there until the end of the season.
