Antoine Griezmann rules out Manchester United move

Antoine Griezmann reportedly wants to remain at Atletico Madrid and become a legend, thus pouring cold water on links to Manchester United.

There has been talk of Manchester United making a lucrative offer to Antopine Griezmann in January. There’s a lot of chatter around the Frenchman’s immediate future, but some other stories suggest the Frenchman will remain at Atletico.

Another story insisted Griezmann would reject a move to Manchester United if an offer came by, but there are question marks whether it makes sense for the Red Devils to make such a move. The 2022 World Cup finalist has rediscovered himself back at Atletico after a tumultuous spell at Barcelona.

This season, he has also found his goalscoring boots again, improving with each passing game. Even for France, the 32-year-old remains an important player, one Didier Deschamps wouldn’t drop for anyone else.

Going back to the links to Manchester United, Griezmann appears to have poured cold water on the stories connecting him to a move to Old Trafford. In his comments that appeared on Marca via 90 Min, the Frenchman insisted he wants to remain at Atletico and achieve legendary status here.

Griezmann said, “I am motivated to be someone important at Atletico, a legend in this club.”

“I know I have to earn it. Now, I have many goals for this year, but yes, I want [to win] La Liga, and I need it. I’ve never done it, and it would be nice. But it is very long, and you must work and see if you are lucky enough to win it.”

Chelsea are also exploring the idea of moving for the Frenchman, but so far, all the chatter has surrounded Manchester United in that regard. The 32-year-old has set the tone in Madrid as Diego Simeone continues to place him on top of his team sheet.

With the January move out of the question, Griezmann would love to focus on matters with Atletico and France. His sole aim at the moment is to finish the season strongly on all fronts at the club level and then help France win the Euros in the summer.
