Saudi Pro League clubs plot Richarlison swoop

Tottenham Hotspur striker Richarlison has been criticised heavily for his poor performances since joining the club from Everton.

A report from Daily Telegraph has claimed that Saudi Pro League clubs could now look to provide Richarlison with an exit route, and they are keen on signing the Tottenham striker.

Richarlison scored just three goals last season, and he has managed to find the back of the net twice across all competitions this season. When Tottenham spent £60 million on him, they expected him to be a star for them. But the former Everton striker has simply failed to deliver consistently.

He was expected to step up and fill the void left by Harry Kane this season. But the Brazilian international has been quite poor, and South Korean international Son Heung-min has had to shoulder the bulk of the goalscoring responsibility for Tottenham.

The 26-year-old is now sidelined with an injury, and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham decide to cash on him during the January transfer window and sign a replacement. It is evident that they will have to sign a reliable goalscorer and selling Richarlison could help fund a move for a striker.

It is highly unlikely that Tottenham will be able to recoup the £60 million they paid for the player, and they will have to cut their losses on him. Richarlison will be thoroughly disappointed with his time at Tottenham so far, and the player will be desperate to get his career back on track.

He will want to salvage his future at the nNrth London club and prove himself at Tottenham. It remains to be seen whether the Premier League side are willing to be patient with him in the coming months.

Tottenham need to add more goals to their attack if they want to finish the season strongly. They cannot afford to rely on Son as the only reliable goalscorer at the club right now. Interestingly, the 26-year-old snubbed a move to Saudi Arabia in the summer transfer window as well.

Tottenham have started the season well, and the right additions in January could help them secure Champions League qualification. Meanwhile, a move to Saudi Arabia would give Richarlison the fresh start he needs right now, and he will be able to earn more money there as well. It will be interesting to see if the Brazilian international is ready to pursue a new adventure in the coming months.
