Tottenham are ready to sell Giovanni Lo Celso in January and could demand up to £15 million for the 27-year-old outcast.
According to Football Insider, Tottenham are open to considering offers worth £15 million for Giovanni Lo Celso in January. Despite Ange Postecoglou insisting on keeping the Argentine midfielder earlier in the summer, the Australian may see the former Real Betis star depart for the right price.
Ange Postecoglou has thrown Tottenham into top gear with the resounding success in the early parts of the season, which has now changed their plans for the January window. Spurs are currently top of the Premier League standings with a two-point advantage over Arsenal and Manchester City.
Spurs could plan squad changes ahead of the January window, with the key focus on building their midfield. Postecoglou’s starting midfielders, Yves Bissouma, and Pape Matar Sarr, would leave for the AFCON, while there are chances for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to depart the club after losing his regular spot in the lineup.
There’s another star who could face leave, with Giovanni Lo Celso facing an uncertain future at the club. Despite staying put at Tottenham after Ange Postecoglou reportedly blocked a move in the summer, the Australian has not played Lo Celso much.
The 27-year-old outcast did suffer an untimely hamstring problem recently, but after that, Postecoglou has shown no signs about integrating the Argentine. So far, Lo Celso has played 69 minutes of football, coming in the space of three appearances in all competitions.
He remains a talented individual, but he may have to showcase that elsewhere. Tottenham are ready to consider offers in January, and now they could demand up to £15 million for the 27-year-old outcast. Some interested clubs will feel the price is too high for their liking and may look to negotiate it down.
A move to Barcelona may not happen, with the Catalans struggling with finances and unable to afford the Argentine in January. There are other clubs in the mix, as per reports around the summer window, with AC Milan briefly showing an interest alongside former side Real Betis.
Even if Betis wanted, they would feel the price is out of their current range as they, too, struggle with cash inflow problems. Alternatively, if Tottenham cannot find the proper suitor, Postecoglou might still view him as a good squad option and could decide on keeping the 27-year-old outcast until the end of the campaign.
