Kostas Tsimikas will replace the injured Andrew Robertson when Liverpool welcome Everton to Anfield for the Merseyside Derby.
Liverpool have failed to win the last two Premier League matches, and they will be under pressure to bounce back strongly when they host Everton at Anfield on Saturday afternoon. The Reds have done well against Everton at home, and they will look to win another derby game when the two sides face off.
Despite failing to win the last two league matches, Liverpool have made an impressive start, and they will look to continue that. Jurgen Klopp has a number of injury issues to deal with heading into the Merseyside Derby.
Thiago Alcantara and Stefan Bajcetic are still recovering from their respective injuries, and both players are ruled out for this game. Curtis Jones is suspended after his dismissal against Tottenham Hotspur. Meanwhile, Cody Gakpo has trained just once before the game and will be assessed closer to kick-off.
Meanwhile, Andrew Robertson is ruled out after picking up a shoulder injury on international duty, and the player will undergo surgery now. The Scottish international is expected to be sidelined for a considerable amount of time. Klopp provided an update on Robertson during his pre-match press conference.
Liverpool vs Everton Preview: Probable Lineups, Prediction, Tactics, Team News & Key Stats
On Robertson, Klopp said, “I think the decision we go towards [is] surgery. There was a little chance that he could try without. But after talking to pretty much all experts, it looks like surgery will be the best thing, especially in the long term, definitely. And that means he is out for a while. Don’t know exactly how long but shoulder surgery is not an easy one.”
On Gakpo, the Liverpool manager said, “Cody trained once with the team, so we have to see how that goes for tomorrow.”
Liverpool are likely to shape up in a 4-3-3 formation, with Alisson Becker in goal. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Kostas Tsimikas will be deployed as the full-backs, and they will look to help out defensively along with their defensive responsibilities. Ibrahima Konate will start alongside Virgil Van Dijk at the heart of the defence.
In the midfield, Wataru Endo is likely to be deployed as the defensive midfielder. The Japanese international will look to break up the opposition attacks and win the ball back for his side. Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai will add creativity and control to the side alongside Endo.
Finally, Darwin Nunez will lead the line for Liverpool against Everton on Saturday, with Cody Gakpo unlikely to be risked from the start. Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz will continue as the wingers this weekend.
