Harry Maguire has suggested he could leave Manchester United if his situation does not improve under Erik ten Hag.
Harry Maguire continues to divide opinions among fans and pundits alike, for his situation continues to puzzle everyone. The 30-year-old Manchester United outcast clearly does not have a chance to play regularly under Erik ten Hag, but consistently does for the England team under Gareth Southgate.
Since the start of last season, Ten Hag has effectively placed Maguire on the bench. The Dutchman has instead preferred Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane as his starting centre-backs. Even this season, when the Argentine suffered an injury, he has started games with Victor Lindelof.
Only recently did Maguire make his first Premier League start of the season against Brentford. He also provided the assist to fellow outcast Scott McTominay’s dramatic winning goal in that game. And while he continues to shine for England, everyone expects Ten Hag to place him on the bench when club football resumes.
Maguire had the chance to leave Manchester United in the summer. West Ham cooled their interest despite agreeing a fee with the Red Devils, as things behind the scenes looked complicated. However, the 30-year-old has no qualms about the situation, as he vowed to fight for his place in the side.

During the current international break, Maguire has hinted he could leave Manchester United unless his situation changes. He told the media, as Fabrizio Romano posted some of his comments, that a move away might become a solution, although he reiterated to keep fighting for his position.
Maguire said, “I am not going to sit here all my life and play once a month. If it carries on I am sure myself and the club will sit down and have a chat about things”. “But I am fully focused on fighting to try and win back my place at Man United”.
The 30-year-old Manchester United outcast also emphasised on his performances and record under Ten Hag. While he may not have played much under the Dutchman, Maguire stressed his ‘win percentage’ when on the pitch for the club.
He continued, “My record under this manager speaks for itself. I haven’t started as many games as I like but my win percentage when I’ve played is ridiculously high”. “Of course I can improve. I’ll keep working hard and pushing, I’m sure there will be opportunities to come”.
As things stand, Manchester United are already in the market for a new defender and could pounce on the chance to sell Maguire. There are plenty of clubs keen on the 30-year-old if he decides to leave, and in truth, that might be a good decision for him ahead of Euros next summer.
