Paolo Bargiggia rules out January Juventus move for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

Paolo Bargiggia believes Juventus will not push for the services of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in January.

According to Paolo Bargiggia via TV Play, Juventus will not sign any replacement for Paul Pogba in the winter transfer window. They have been linked with a move for 28-year-old Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. But the Italian journalist feels the Old Lady won’t make any moves for his services.

Juventus were amongst the best clubs in Europe in the recent past. But, over the past few years, they have not been at their best. They have struggled on the pitch as well as off it. The Serie A giants do not have the best of financial situations and have also suffered multiple point deductions last season because of financial irregularities.

Despite everything that is going on at the club, Massimiliano Allegri has managed to steady the ship and they are doing a decent job in the ongoing season. But, they have been hit by another major roadblock because of the doping incident involving Paul Pogba.

The former Manchester United midfielder has tested positive for doping, with even his second sample turning out to be positive. Following this, he will most likely be banned for a few years and Juventus will terminate his contract.

Pogba’s ban/departure will leave a void. As a result, the Serie A club have been linked with Hojbjerg. The 28-year-old has been portrayed as a potential replacement according to recent reports. However, Bargiggia feels the Old Lady won’t push for the Danish international’s services.

While speaking on TVPlay, Bargiggia said, “I don’t expect a purchase from Juventus, they will see in January where they are in the standings, if they are confident and calm enough they won’t force anything. This capital increase also serves to limit the losses of the management that has just closed, it does not apply to the new season. If they were to do something we’re talking about a midfielder on loan. Among all the names circulating, including the Danish Hojbjerg, there are no signs of opening, from any.”

“You don’t take away certain players from other teams mid-season. However, teams are not scraping the bottom of the roster barrel. There are still many players who still play little, we have almost never seen Iling, Cambiaso plays and doesn’t play, Rugani doesn’t play. Now the two reserve strikers play. They’re not that short. The feeling is that 80% of the time they won’t do anything.”

According to the journalist, Juventus will see where they are in terms of their league standings in the winter and if things are well in control, they won’t make a move in January. He feels even if they try to sign a midfielder, they will look to bring one in on loan rather than acquiring someone on a permanent basis.

Bargiggia reckons there is an opening for the Italian club to bring in the Danish international. In addition, Juventus already have quite a few players in the centre of the park who do not really get much game time. They have enough cover and he feels they won’t do anything in the winter.

Meanwhile, Tottenham are ready to part ways with the 28-year-old. But they are looking for a minimum of €30 million. Their idea is to offload him on a permanent basis. They might consider letting him leave on loan only if there is an obligation to buy involved.
