Pedro Neto will not force January exit from Wolves

Pedro Neto has been linked with a move away from Wolves, with Arsenal, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur keen.

A report from Give Me Sport claims that clubs like Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, and Arsenal are all keen on Pedro Neto. But the Portuguese international is not ready to force a move away from the Molineux in the January transfer window.

Wolves are not keen on selling the player midway through the season, and it remains to be seen whether his suitors are prepared to wait until the summer transfer window. The 23-year-old has proven himself in the Premier League with Wolves. So, it is hardly a surprise that the top clubs are keen on signing him.

The winger could cost around £50 million, and it will be interesting to see if the three Premier League clubs are willing to shell out that kind of money for him. Apparently, Arsenal sent scouts to watch the 23-year-old in action when we picked up an impressive win over Manchester City last weekend.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are looking at him as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah, who could leave the club at the end of the season. The Egyptian international is entering the final year of contract summer, and Liverpool could look to sell him instead of losing him for free.

Newcastle need to add more quality in the wide areas after the departure of Allan Saint-Maximin, and the 23-year-old certainly fits the profile. As far as Tottenham are concerned, they should look to bring in an upgrade on Richarlison, who has not been able to live up to the expectations since his big-money move from Everton.

Although Neto is a different type of player, he could be the ideal fit for Ange Postecoglou’s system and slot into the left-wing position alongside Son Heung-min and Brennan Johnson. Saudi Arabian clubs are keeping tabs on the Portuguese winger as well, and it will be interesting to see where he ends up.

Wolves manager Gary O’Neill is keen on holding onto the player, and Ben Jacobs has revealed that Neto is not the type of character to aggressively force a move away from the club.

“I think the first thing to say is that Wolves want to hang on to him. I think Gary O’Neil will not want to lose Neto mid-season, which might mean that the summer is perhaps a more likely exit. I think we saw this with Wolves and how they handled the Matheus Nunes situation.”

“There was a possibility of him leaving last January, with certain suitors looking, and Wolves ensured that were he to go – and he obviously has gone to Manchester City since – it would only be at the end of the season and not in the middle of the season. Neto is not necessarily the type of character to force his way out too aggressively, which could be good news as well from a Wolves perspective.”

These developments will certainly come as a boost for Wolves, and it remains to be seen how his suitors react to the situation. It will be interesting to see if Arsenal, Newcastle United, and Tottenham decide to come forward with a concrete proposal to test the waters and check if the player is willing to join them midway through the campaign.
