Crystal Palace, Everton, and West Ham United are interested in acquiring the services of 27-year-old versatile defender Mykola Matviyenko.
According to a report by TEAMtalk, Crystal Palace, Everton and West Ham United would love to have Mykola Matviyenko in their ranks. The 27-year-old defender has made quite a name for himself while playing for Shakhtar Donetsk, and he is on the radar of quite a few clubs from across Europe.
Matviyenko has been at Shakhtar Donetsk since his childhood days. He has come up the ranks at the club and has also been subject to multiple loan moves in order to gain some experience. The 27-year-old was promoted to their first team back in 2017.
Since being promoted to their first team, the Ukraine international has featured in a total of 175 matches and has contributed towards 22 goals. Matviyenko has also bagged a total of 59 caps for his national team.
Last season, he was involved in 38 matches and was on the pitch for over 3,300 minutes. He even contributed towards six goals. The 27-year-old is off to a great start in the new season with three goals in six outings. All his six appearances this season have been in the heart of the defence.
While his contract runs until the end of 2027, there is a lot of interest, and he could be subject to a move elsewhere in the winter transfer window. Brentford and Brighton & Hove Albion wanted to sign him in January but they failed to strike a deal with the Ukrainian club.
Post that, Shakhtar Donetsk managed to agree on a new deal with the versatile defender. While he did pen down a new contract earlier this year, his representative is exploring possible options for a move in the upcoming transfer window.
There is interest from Everton, Crystal Palace and West Ham United. All three Premier League clubs struggled defensively last season. While they have already signed a few players to bolster their defence, they are still on the lookout for another player who can help bolster their defence.
The fact that Matviyenko is capable enough to play as a centre-back as well as a left-back is what makes him a highly sought-after player. All three clubs need more options in their defence and his arrival will bolster them to a great extent.
Both Everton and West Ham have conceded ten goals in their six outings, while the Eagles have let in more than they have scored. As a result, it is quite evident that they need to bolster their defence to achieve their goals in the 2023/24 season.
