Tottenham Hotspur are in talks with their 31-year-old star Son Heung-min as they look to extend his stay at the club.
According to 90min, Tottenham Hotspur are keen on having Son Heung-min in their ranks for years to come. As a result, they are ready to offer him a new long-term contract with his current deal expiring in the summer of 2025.
Son came into the limelight while playing for Bayer Leverkusen. His incredible talent and consistent performances caught the eye of Tottenham Hotspur, who signed him back in the summer of 2015. He has been an integral part of their first team ever since he joined them and is currently in his ninth season as a Spurs player.
He has featured in a total of 378 matches for the North London club and has contributed towards 228 goals. He has found the back of the net on 148 occasions and is sixth on the club’s all-time top scorers list.
The 31-year-old has been handed over the captain’s armband by their new manager Ange Postecoglou. And, with Harry Kane no longer at the club, Son is now the leader of the attack. The South Korean international has featured in a total of 5 Premier League games this season and has found the back of the net thrice.
Son is amongst their best players, and they are keen on extending his stay at the club. His current deal expires in the summer of 2025. While there are more than 18 months left on his contract, the London club do not want the player to enter the last 12 months of his contract.
They have already lost Kane and have no intentions of parting ways with Son. As a result, Tottenham are keen on penning down a new long-term deal with their new club captain. Spurs were interested in extending his stay at the start of the new, but they waited to see how the 31-year-old got on with their new boss.
With things going very well between Son and Postecoglou, an agreement is expected to be reached between both parties before the end of the year. There is a possibility that the negotiation could be finalised in the next few weeks, and the new deal might be made official before the turn of the year.
