Arsenal prodigy Marcelo Flores close to sealing summer exit

19-year-old Arsenal attacking midfielder Marcelo Flores is closing in on a move to Mexican club Tigres UANL.

According to a report by Milenio, Marcelo Flores is close to joining Tigres UANL. The 19-year-old Arsenal prodigy has been offered to the Mexican club who are now keen on having him in their ranks.

Flores has been at Arsenal since 2019. He has come up the ranks at the club and is currently a part of their Under-21 setup. The teenage sensation was expected to make his first-team debut last season.

But, unfortunately, things haven’t gone according to plan as he was loaned out to Spanish second-division team Real Oviedo. While on loan, the Mexican youth international didn’t get enough game time. He was involved in just 15 matches.

The 19-year-old is now back at his parent club but a place in their first team looks unlikely. While there was interest from Real Betis in his services, it never really took shape. The Gunners have a stacked first team and Flores won’t be able to break into it. As a result, he has started considering his future despite having two years left on his deal.

His representatives have offered him to Tigres UANL. While the Mexican champions were not looking to add any more players to their ranks, they did not want to miss out on the opportunity to sign the teenage sensation because of multiple reasons.

Flores is young and he can go on to become an important part of their first team. He will be available on the cheap. And, since he is Mexican, he won’t take up an overseas slot and will be of great value to the club as well as the fans. The 19-year-old is versatile in nature and they could use him anywhere in their attack.

According to the report, Tigres are very close to acquiring his services and it is only a matter of hours before there is an official announcement. The player could arrive in Mexico this week itself.

A move away from the Gunners will help Flores get more first-team minutes and he can continue his progress with an aim of returning to Europe in the future.
