Nayef Aguerd ready to join Al-Ittihad, West Ham likely to obstruct move

Nayef Aguerd has been linked with a move away from West Ham United this summer, with Al-Ittihad keen on signing him.

According to a report from Goal.com, Al-Ittihad are keen on signing Naye Aguerd. And the Saudi Pro League champions are willing to offer the 27-year-old a bumper contract to prise him away from the London Stadium.

Al-Ittihad are in need of defensive reinforcements right now after losing Ahmed Hegazi to a serious injury. They will need to bring in a quality alternative, and the 27-year-old Premier League defender is a target. Aguerd has established himself as a key player for West Ham since joining the club in the summer of 2022.

The Moroccan defender has a contract with the London club until the summer of 2027. West Ham are under no pressure to cash in on the player. Although they are willing to submit a lucrative offer to the London club and a bumper pay package to the player, West Ham’s reluctance to do a deal could scupper any potential move.

The transfer window has already closed for premier league clubs and West Ham will not be allowed to sign a replacement if they decide to sell him. Selling one of their best players without replacing him proved to be a devastating decision, and it could ruin West Ham’s chances of having an impressive season.

West Ham have qualified for the UEFA Europa League, and they will look to do well in the european competition. They will need quality and depth at their disposal, and Aguerd will be instrumental to their success.

Meanwhile, the Saudi Arabian club prepared to offer wages of around €10 million annually. Apparently, it would be 10 times more than what the player currently earns at West Ham. Such an offer is likely to tempt any player, and it will be interesting to see if the 27-year-old decides to force the move.

He has been an indispensable asset for David Moyes, and his departure will weaken West Ham significantly. So, the Hammers must do every thing in their power to convince the player to stay until the end of the season.
