West Ham United interested in Divock Origi

West Ham United are reportedly interested in signing 28-year-old AC Milan striker Divock Origi before the transfer window closes.

According to Graeme Bailey, West Ham United are hoping to sign 28-year-old Champions League winner Divock Origi before the summer transfer window closes. And it remains to be seen whether they can secure an agreement with AC Milan.

The Belgian international has struggled for regular game time at the Serie A club, and his performances have been rather underwhelming. Origi scored just twice across all competitions last year, and Milan would have expected him to perform a lot better when they signed him.

It will be interesting to see if the Hammers are prepared to bring the 28-year-old in as a backup attacker this season. Apparently, West Ham manager David Moyes likes the Belgian international as a player.

Origi has proven his quality in the Premier League with Liverpool over the years, and he has helped them win multiple trophies. Apart from his ability as a footballer, he has the knack of chipping in with big goals in big moments. The Belgian was a cult hero during his time at Liverpool, and a return to the Premier League could be ideal for him.

If West Ham are prepared to give him regular opportunities, the 28-year-old might be able to regain his top form. The player has won the Premier League title and the UEFA Champions League trophy with Liverpool in the past, and he is certainly good enough for a club like West Ham.

The Hammers will be competing in the UEFA Europa League this season, and they need a deeper squad to do well across multiple competitions. West Ham have been linked with a number of strikers, including Yuri Alberto, Pedro and Marcos Leonardo. However, they have not been able to pull off these signings and they are now looking at alternatives.

Origi could be a cheap acquisition for them, given his poor form and stature at AC Milan. The deal could prove to be a bargain if the 28-year-old manages to regain his form and confidence in the coming weeks. A move back to England will be tempting for the Belgian international as well, and moving to West Ham would give him the fresh start he needs right now.
