West Ham United are keen on Brennan Johnson as an addition to their depleting attacking options, with Nottingham Forest bracing for offers.
According to The Telegraph, West Ham United ponders approaching Brennan Johnson. Nottingham Forest have rejected multiple bids this summer for their prized attacker, with Tottenham also looking at the forward after Harry Kane’s departure.
Brennan Johnson could become a man in demand with the transfer window entering its last phase. The attacker has interest from multiple Premier League clubs, with West Ham United now joining Tottenham in the hunt for the 22-year-old Welshman.
Nottingham Forest have already rejected multiple bids from Brentford earlier in the window, with the Bees no longer in the running. Steve Cooper’s side are potentially asking for around £45 million for Johnson, which could comfortably break their sale record.
Tottenham have kept tabs on the 10-goal target with the view of replacing Harry Kane with the Welshman. Forest will brace themselves for offers in the latter part of the window, but they will not bow down in their demands for the 22-year-old.
West Ham United have now joined the hunt for the attacker, as the report states Johnson could replace Manchester City target Lucas Paqueta. Pep Guardiola’s side are already formulating a new offer for the Brazilian, with the transfer expected to go through.
Paqueta’s departure will signal the third high-profile exit from West Ham after Declan Rice and Gianluca Scamacca in this window. Michail Antonio cannot lead the line for the entire season in all competitions, with David Moyes hunting for a new striker.
Johnson could add much more to their style and flourish at West Ham. They are also keen on Arsenal’s Folarin Balogun, who has a similar price tag to the Welshman. The Hammers are prepared to spend big in the window to bring reinforcement but saw the Harry Maguire deal fall through.
Johnson will add some missing quality in their forward line, but any deal must happen swiftly to allow Forest to find a suitable replacement. Tottenham could also push for the 10-goal striker, but there are question marks whether they will pay what Cooper’s side will demand.
