Liverpool make enquiry for Federico Valverde

Liverpool are reportedly keen on signing the Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde.

According to a report from the Secret Scout, Liverpool have enquired about the 25-year-old Uruguayan international midfielder and it remains to be seen whether they follow it up with a concrete proposal to sign him.

Valverde has established himself as a key player for Real Madrid since joining the club and he could prove to be a quality acquisition for the Reds.

The 25-year-old will add goals, creativity and defensive cover to the Liverpool midfield.

The Uruguayan international chipped in with 12 goals across all competitions last season and he picked up 7 assists along the way.

Valverde is versatile enough to operate as a central midfielder as well as a winger.

His versatility will be an added bonus for Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp. Liverpool have sanctioned the departures of multiple midfielders this summer. The likes of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho have recently moved to Saudi Arabia and the likes of James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade Chamberlain left the club on free transfers.

The Reds have improved their midfield with the signings of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai. But they need to add more depth to the squad.

Along with a central midfielder, the Reds should look to sign a quality defensive midfielder as well.

Liverpool have failed with moves for Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo in recent weeks and the two players are likely to move to Chelsea instead.

It will be interesting to see if Liverpool can bring in the necessary reinforcements before the summer transfer window closes.

Valverde has all the attributes to develop into a world-class midfielder and he could prove to be a sensational acquisition for Liverpool.

The Reds managed to agree on a club-record bid for Caicedo and it is fair to assume that they will be able to afford Valverde as well.

However, he is a key player for Los Blancos and Real Madrid might not be keen on sanctioning his departure this summer.

Real Madrid missed out on the Spanish league title last season and they will look to make amends this year. They will not want to part ways with key players and Liverpool could find it difficult to convince them.

With the likes of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos in their twilight years, Real Madrid are planning a squad for the future and Valverde is certainly a key part of their plans.
