Harry Kane is inching closer to staying at Tottenham Hotspur amid Bayern Munich interest
According to The Athletic, Tottenham Hotspur superstar, Harry Kane is closing in on staying put at the north London club despite strong interest from Bayern Munich in the ongoing summer transfer window.
The 30-year-old is one of the finest number nines in world football and the crown jewel in the current Spurs roster. Kane is Tottenham’s most expensive asset and is currently in the final year of his deal at N17.
The English skipper is yet to pen an extension and failing to do so will see him leave the club on a free next summer. This leaves Daniel Levy and Co in a difficult situation as the 2023 summer transfer window draws to a close.
The decision will be whether Tottenham cash in on the player now or retain him in the hopes of penning a new deal. Kane himself has not spoken out nor handed in a transfer request, perhaps offering Tottenham some hope in the matter.
German giants Bayern Munich have been the most interested in Kane and have had three different bids turned down by Tottenham. Both clubs are still some distance apart in valuation, and as things stand Kane is inching closer to staying put at Tottenham next season.
This will be a major shot in the arm for new manager Ange Postecoglou who is trying to rebuild the club into a force to be reckoned with. Kane is not keen to switch clubs once the 2023/24 season is underway, more or less giving us an indication that Bayern are racing against time to see the deal go through.
Tottenham kick off their campaign against Brentford on 13 August and it will be interesting to see if an agreement for Kane can be reached by then. The striker was not part of the squad that travelled to Barcelona for the club’s final pre-season friendly.
Bayern could do with a striker of Kane’s talents after failing to adequately replace Robert Lewandowski. Time will tell whether the summer saga will end with Bayern or Tottenham having the last laugh.
