Nottingham Forest have reportedly reached a full agreement with Arsenal over a deal to land USMNT international goalkeeper Matt Turner.
According to The Athletic, Arsenal goalkeeper Matt Turner is scheduled to undergo a medical later today after Nottingham Forest reached an agreement to sign him. Talks over a deal for the United States international began a few days ago, and both clubs have now reached a middle ground over the transfer fee.
The 29-year-old joined the Gunners last summer from Major League Soccer club New England Revolution in order to provide competition for Aaron Ramsdale. Over the course of the campaign, he struggled for minutes and first-team appearances, making just seven appearances in all competitions.
The Gunners are looking to sign Brentford shot-stopper David Raya and have even had a bid rejected for the Spain international, whose imminent arrival would have resulted in more reduced game time for Turner if he opted to fight for his place at the North London outfit.
While no agreement has been reached for Raya just yet, Mikel Arteta’s side are said to be confident of getting a deal over the line, paving the way for Turner to finalise his move to the City Ground.

Turner has established himself as the USA’s number one and played throughout the recent Gold Cup campaign when they reached the semi-final stage, while he also featured heavily in their recent CONCACAF Nations League triumph. So, ideally, he will not want a repeat of last season in the new campaign, as it would hinder his prospects of remaining the first-choice for his country.
Forest have been trying to secure a permanent deal for Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson, but talks remain deadlocked. It is claimed that stumbling blocks have surfaced, with Forest’s initial proposal to loan the shot-stopper and then sign him on a permanent deal when he played a certain number of games being swiftly rejected.

The Tricky Trees turned their attention to Turner in the last week or so, and have now swiftly agreed a deal. The signing of the 32-capped USMNT international is not expected to have any impact on Forest’s pursuit of Manchester United’s Dean Henderson, who is still wanted by manager Steve Cooper, with Turner expected to provide competition for the goalkeeper’s jersey.
