According to a report by Sabah, Victor Nelsson wants to join Tottenham Hotspur in the ongoing transfer window. The 24-year-old is keen on making the move to the Premier League and has his heart set on a move to the London club.
Spurs are looking for defensive reinforcement ahead of next season. Their new manager Ange Postecoglou is well aware of the defensive troubles that his team had last season and wants to ensure he has enough options in his ranks to counter that.
The Australian manager is looking to add a new full-back as well as a centre-back to the mix. He wants to acquire the services of the Galatasaray centre-back Nelsson and has been pushing for his signatures for a while now. The London club were in talks with the player as well as the Turkish club as they looked to land the 24-year-old at the club.
Spurs even submitted an official bid to sign him but it has been rejected. While Tottenham still retain their interest in his services, the player is the one who is making headlines of late. He was not at his best in the second qualifying round of the Champions League where Galatasaray drew 2-2 with Zalgiris Vilnius.
His manager Okan Buruk has criticized the 24-year-old stating that it was the worst performance of his life. And, it has been suggested that his recent string of poor performances are because of the fact that his transfer to Spurs did not take place.
The player is desperate to join the Premier League club. But Galatasaray will only let him leave on their terms. The Turkish club are asking for a minimum of €20 million for the services of the Danish international who has a release clause worth €25 million.
According to the report, Spurs’ initial offer was below the €20 million mark, and that is why it was rejected by Galatasaray. With the player keen on making the move, it will be interesting to see if Tottenham come up with an improved bid in the coming days.
