Fulham keen on Morato

Fulham could reignite their interest in Morato as the club seeks a centre-back signing and may have already seen a bid rejected by Benfica.

According to Rudy Galetti, Fulham could make a fresh approach for centre-back Morato as the club seeks a key defensive signing in this window. The Benfica star remains on their radar, and the Portuguese club may have already rejected an earlier offer.

Fulham are having a tough time in the transfer window after what earlier seemed like a peaceful period for Marco Silva to manoeuvre. However, the manager’s future has come under scrutiny after a big offer arrived from Saudi side Al Ahli.

The manager could make around €40 million on a two-year contract if he accepts the deal, as there are whispers about him leaving. Before this, star striker Aleksandar Mitrovic reportedly went on strike after the club declared a move to Saudi, with their valuation of over £50 million likely to scupper any more attempts.

They have already lost Manor Solomon and nearly lost Willian too, but only for the Brazilian to re-sign on a new deal. So, as things stand, the period at the club seems tumultuous, and they will have to reinforce properly, especially at the back.

Fulham have been searching for a new centre-back and have reportedly reignited their interest in Morato. The 22-year-old remains a firm candidate on their radar, and Benfica may have already rejected a bid from the Cottagers.

Fulham are now eying a €25 million move for the Brazilian defender, but he’s not their earlier option or first choice to reinforce the defence. Fiorentina’s Igor remains a target, but no deal has been agreed upon with the Italian side.

Meanwhile, there are links to Manchester United’s Eric Bailly, but he will unlikely turn heads at Craven Cottage. As for Morato, he has a long future ahead, and there are questions about whether Benfica will accept the reported new offer of €25 million for the Brazilian defender.

Fulham hopes to keep all their important personnel for the upcoming season, including Mitroviuc and manager Silva. However, adding a new centre-back will have to be critical for the club to keep up their charge to finish better than they did last season.
