Everton inch closer to signing Arnaut Danjuma

Everton have made a surprising move to approach Arnaut Danjuma after the January fiasco, with the Villarreal star set to arrive on loan.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Everton are closing in on Arnaut Danjuma despite the January fiasco with the forward. After flopping at Tottenham, where he spent the last six months on loan, the 26-year-old forward will join Sean Dyche’s side on a season-long deal until June 2024.

If anyone remembers Arnaut Danjuma, it is for his transfer fiasco last January when he made a sensational U-turn to join Tottenham instead of Everton. The Toffees agreed a loan move with Villarreal, and the 26-year-old also passed a medical.

Before he could sign the contracts, Tottenham swooped in the eleventh hour to hijack the move. While he came there to bolster Spurs’ attacking setup, his time there got described as a flop. Danjuman scored a single goal in 9 games, accumulating only 192 minutes.

Since his return to Villarreal, Danjuma has had interest from Premier League clubs. Everton have now made a sensational decision to sign the 26-year-old forward again, despite what happened in January. The Toffees reportedly kept contact with the player despite his move to Tottenham.

Fabrizio Romano confirmed a move was close to completion, updating later that a medical was planned in the next phase. Danjuma reportedly spoke to Sean Dyche and got convinced to join the Toffees ahead of the new season.

Danjuma will sign on loan for the whole season with the Toffees. Whether there is a buy clause inserted in the contract could become clearer once he signs the deal. The forward has no place at Villarreal, who remain keen to offload him.

The Dutchman wanted to forge a career in the Premier League and had a stint with Bournemouth before. However, there is a massive chance for him to shine in this otherwise hapless Everton side that narrowly avoided relegation last season.

The Toffees are in the market to sign attacking talents and could move for a few bargain deals. They are also keen on Manchester United’s Anthony Elanga, and after early overtures, the trail has gone somewhat cold. However, they are hot in pursuing Danjuma, as this move could conclude soon enough.
