Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson is all set to complete his move to Saudi Pro League club Al Ettifaq in the coming days.
According to a report by Football Insider, Al Ettifaq are closing in on the signatures of Jordan Henderson. The 33-year-old midfielder has been given the green light from Liverpool to join the Saudi Pro League club. The move should be complete in the coming days.
Liverpool struggled throughout last season, as they were far from their best. And, one of the major reasons for their struggles was an inconsistent midfield. However, it looks like all is set to change next season.
The Merseyside club are all set to head into next season with quite a few new midfielders. They have already acquired the services of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai. And, a few more signings are expected to be completed in the near future. Meanwhile, Jordan Henderson and Fabinho are all set to leave the club.
Jurgen Klopp’s team will have a completely new midfield next season with the majority of their senior players no longer at the club. While the midfield overhaul will surely help their cause, they might miss the presence of their skipper Jordan Henderson, who is all set to complete a transfer to Al Ettifaq.
The 33-year-old will be ending his 12-year-long stay at the club. He joined them back in 2011 for a fee of £16 million after coming through the ranks at Sunderland. Henderson has featured in a total of 492 matches and has been involved in a total of 94 goals. He also has 77 caps to his name for the English national side.
The former Sunderland midfielder was handed over the club’s captaincy back in 2015. The captain’s armband was handed over to the 33-year-old after the departure of Steven Gerrard, the man who has played a major role in his move to the Saudi Club. Gerrard is currently the manager of Al Ettifag, and according to reports, he has demanded the signing of the England international.

After having won almost everything during his time at the club, Henderson has been given the green light to join the Saudi club that are all set to pay him £700,000-a-week and have offered him a two-year-long contract. Liverpool are expected to earn around £10 million from his transfer. With everything in place, the deal is expected to go through in the next few days.
