Arsenal have finally agreed on a deal with West Ham United for the transfer of Declan Rice, the 24-year-old is all set for his medical.
According to a 90min, West Ham United’s Declan Rice will undergo a medical on Friday before signing a long-term deal with Arsenal. Both clubs have been in negotiations for a while now and have finally reached a full agreement allowing the English international to undergo the final few steps.
Arsenal’s priority heading into the transfer market was to acquire the services of Rice. The Gunners have been pushing for his signatures ever since the season ended. They have been in talks with the player, his agents as well as the club as they were desperate to have him.
At one point in time, even Manchester City entered the race for his signature but they were not ready to go beyond the £100 million mark for the 24-year-old. While Arsenal’s initial bids were below the £100 million mark, City’s intervention forced them to meet the demands of the Hammers.
Finally, a deal was agreed. Arsenal were ready to pay £100 million as a fixed fee plus another £5 million in add-ons. The two clubs reached an agreement on the overall package quite a few days back but post that they have been in negotiations regarding the payment structure.
And, according to the report, both clubs have reached a common ground in terms of the payment structure. The Gunners will be paying the £100 million guaranteed money in three instalments within the course of a 24-month period.
This was one of the most important parts of the deal as the Hammers majority owner David Sullivan has been pushing for it right from the time West Ham started receiving bids for the England international.
The player was keen on making a move to a bigger club and with his contract running out in a year’s time, it seems the Hammers have done a great piece of business. With all details sorted, the medical is all set to take place on Friday before Arsenal announce the record-breaking signing of Declan Rice.
