Thomas Partey offered $200 million to leave Arsenal

Arsenal star midfielder Thomas Partey has been offered $200 million in wages to part ways with the North London club.

According to Ibrahim Sannie Daara, Saudi Pro League clubs are interested in acquiring the services of Thomas Partey. The 30-year-old Arsenal midfielder has been offered a mouth-watering contract from the Middle East and could be on his way out.

Partey came through the ranks at Atlético Madrid and made quite a name for himself while playing for the Spanish club. He made his physical presence known and was a rock in front of the defence.

The 30-year-old’s impressive performances attracted the attention of Arsenal and they acquired him back in October 2020. While the Ghanaian international has done a decent job since joining Mikel Arteta’s team, he hasn’t had the impact that was expected.

As far as the recently concluded season is concerned, Partey made a total of 40 appearances and was on the pitch for over 2,600 minutes. The 30-year-old remains an important part of their first despite not being as consistent as one would have expected him to be.

The former Atlético midfielder still has two years left in his contract but it looks like he might be on his way out in the ongoing summer. There is a lot of interest in his services from Saudi Arabia and the Gunners might sell if they get the right price.

Mikel Arteta’s priority heading into next season is to strengthen his midfield and he is targeting some of the best midfielders in the Premier League. Pushing for high-profile midfielders will require a lot of funds and Partey’s departure could help them financially.

While Partey still has a lot of football left in him and would love to continue in Europe, the offer might be too big to reject. According to Daara, a Saudi club is ready to offer the 30-year-old $200 million in wages.

They want to acquire him for two seasons and are ready to provide him a tax-free salary of $100 million per season. There is no clarity about which club has put forward such a deal but the clubs interested in the 30-year-old are Al Ahli, Al Nassr and Al Khaleej.
