Arsenal are in discussions to find out the future of Thomas Partey, as there’s a chance for the 30-year-old midfielder to leave.
According to Fabrizio Romano, there are concrete chances for Thomas Partey to leave Arsenal in the summer. Mikel Arteta is in the market to strengthen their midfielder, although losing the Ghanaian and Granit Xhaka in the same window could pose a risk.
Arsenal’s aggressive approach in the transfer market initially indicated Mikel Arteta’s desire to add to the current squad. They were always expected to bring a new holding midfielder to advance their cause of winning the Premier League, but the real plan remains unclear.
Granit Xhaka is waiting to leave the club amid concrete links with Bayer Leverkusen. Arteta continues to wait for Arsenal to sign Declan Rice before sanctioning the Swiss star’s move. The north Londoners are seemingly poised to make a £100 million bid for the West Ham star, with a move quite likely to happen.
For some time, it was the understanding that Arsenal would open the doors for Xhaka to leave, but they were unwilling to sell Thomas Partey. The 30-year-old midfield general has been a solid player since joining the club in 2020. He was instrumental in helping the Gunners mount a title challenge.

Ideally, the inclusion of Rice was reportedly viewed as competition for Partey. Fabrizio Romano suggested there are concrete chances for the 30-year-old midfielder to leave. Plenty of clubs are reportedly interested, with some old reports pointing towards suitors from Italy.
Moreover, there are fresh links to Romeo Lavia, but the Southampton midfielder is likely an alternative to Moises Caicedo. It doesn’t make sense for Arsenal to sell Partey and Xhaka in the same window, thus depriving the squad of two of their most experienced midfielders.
There might be interest, but that’s natural because Partey has had a sensational season. Ideally, Arteta would like to keep him, although he might leave if it’s his own decision to take up a new challenge. These are sudden rumours without concrete evidence of interested clubs. Moreover, there’s nothing so far suggesting the 30-year-old wants to depart.
Hence, we will have to wait for this story to evolve. Partey is still considered one of the key players in the squad. Arsenal will end their wait to play in the Champions League; they may want to keep hold of the player with vast experience in that competition.
