The future of Kylian Mbappe remains a subject of speculation as he continues to be linked with a move to Real Madrid.
Recently, Kylian Mbappe revealed that he will not sign a contract with Paris Saint-Germain beyond 2024, meaning he will enter the final year of his contract and will be able to move on as a free agent next summer.
A report from ESPN now claims that PSG are prepared to sell in this summer in order to avoid losing him on a free transfer. However, Mbappe maintains that he has no desire to leave the club in the summer and has only refused to renew his contract any further.
“I didn’t ask either to be sold or to go to Real Madrid,” Mbappe said. “I just confirmed that I don’t want to activate the extra year foreseen in the contract. We have never talked about a renewal with PSG, but I’m happy to stay here next season.”
Mbappe will be able to agree on pre-contract deals with foreign clubs from January, and it remains to be seen how the situation develops. Apparently, Real Madrid are still keen on signing the player and they would have to shell out a fee of around €150 million for the French international. Mbappe is open to moving to the Santiago Bernabeu as well, albeit not this year, in his words.
The 24-year-old has been in fine from this season, scoring 41 goals across all competitions. He could prove to be the ideal replacement for club legend Karim Benzema, who has chosen to move to Saudi Arabia. Real Madrid will have to improve their attacking options, and Mbappe would be a world-class acquisition.
It remains to be seen whether they can convince PSG to sell their prized prospect in the coming weeks. Mbappe has been linked with a move to the Spanish club in the past. But the transfer did not materialise due to his last-minute flipping. Apparently, the player went back on his word and signed a new contract with the French outfit.

It will be interesting to see whether he is ready to push through a move to Real Madrid this time around. The Spanish giants have had a disappointing season by their standards, and they failed to win the league title or the UEFA Champions League. They will be hoping to bounce back strongly in next season and a player like Mbappe would certainly help them get back to the top once again.
