Arsenal are all set to part ways with their 27-year-old centre-back Rob Holding in the upcoming transfer window.

According to Football Insider, Arsenal are ready to sell Rob Holding. The 27-year-old centre-back could be on his way out in the summer as the club plan to reinforce their defence ahead of next season.

Holding started off at Bolton Wanderers, coming through the ranks at the club before making a move to Arsenal. The Gunners acquired the services of the 27-year-old in the summer of 2016 for a fee of £2 million.

Initially, he was an important part of their first-team setup. But of late, he has gone down the pecking order. The former Bolton centre-back was handed just 17 minutes of league action prior to William Saliba’s injury in March.

Post the injury, the 27-year-old became a regular feature in the starting XI and accumulated 90 minutes in six back-to-back matches. Holding has been involved in a total of 24 matches and has two goals to his name. He has been on the pitch for a total of 1,397 minutes.

While his contract at the club runs until the summer of 2024, he is expected to part ways with the club in the upcoming window. The Gunners’ priority heading into the transfer window is acquiring a new midfielder. And, once they get it done, Arsenal will shift their focus towards signing a new defender.

The club want to restore Ben White as a centre-back and will focus on signing a new right-sided full-back. They have their eyes on Ajax’s Devyne Rensch and are expected to push for his services in the summer.

If the Gunners end up signing a new right-back, Ben White will move into a more central role. And, the club will look to part ways with Rob Holding. Mikel Arteta is keen on having White as a centre-back. As a result, the chances of Holding leaving the club are high.

Arsenal have done a great job in the ongoing season, but they just fell short of the league title. They are keen on bolstering their squad in order to push for the Premier League title again next season. While they will focus on signing new players, they are expected to offload a few of them. And, the 27-year-old could be subject to move away from the club as per the reports.
