Manchester United willing to shell out €60 million for Kim Min-jae

Manchester United are ready to break the bank and spend €60 million to sign 26-year-old Napoli defender Kim Min-jae.

According to Corriere dello Sport via Sport Witness, Manchester United are ready to spend €60 million as they look to sign Kim Min-jae. The 26-year-old has had a remarkable first season at Napoli and a lot of top clubs from across Europe are keen on having him in their ranks.

Kim Min-jae had an impressive 2021/22 season with Fenerbahce on the back of which Napoli signed him ahead of the ongoing campaign. They brought him to the club in order to replace Kalidou Koulibaly.

The 31-year-old left for Chelsea. And, the Partenopei were forced to enter the market for a new defender. Napoli signed Kim to fill those big boots. And, the 26-year-old has done wonders since joining them. The South Korean international has featured in 42 matches and also has four goal contributions.

He has been the mainstay of their defence. And, he has helped Napoli win the Serie A after decades. Kim has hardly put a foot wrong in the entire season. His performances have resulted in a lot of attention from across Europe.

While his contract at the club runs until the summer of 2025, the 26-year-old could be on his way out in the summer given the interest in his services and a release clause in his contract. Napoli did try to remove the clause by offering him a new contract but they haven’t tasted success yet.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are willing to pay €60 million for Kim. And, if they do knock on the doors with such a figure, Napoli will have no options other than to discuss about the deal. While he will be a big loss to the club, there is positive in terms of the transfer business done as the 26-year-old was signed for just €18 million a year ago.

Manchester United are keen on strengthening their defence ahead of next season. With Harry Maguire likely to be sold, signing someone like Kim will surely give them a lift. The Red Devils are keen on getting the deal done and they are just awaiting the actual figure they need to pay to break his release clause.
