Liverpool approve departure of Fabio Carvalho

Liverpool are all set to offload their 20-year-old attacking midfielder Fabio Carvalho ahead of next season.

According to Football Insider, Liverpool are ready to let go of Fabio Carvalho in the summer. The 20-year-old attacking midfielder is considered a huge prospect but his future is uncertain at this point in time. He is likely to be on the move in the upcoming transfer window, it could be on a temporary or a permanent basis.

Carvalho came into the limelight while playing for Fulham. The 20-year-old joined them back in 2014 and came through the ranks at the club. He did a great job for their first team before making a move to the Merseyside club.

The Portugal Under-21 star joined the Reds ahead of the ongoing season. He started his first six league games under Jurgen Klopp. But, things have not gone according to plan post that. The 20-year-old has failed to impress the German boss and his game time has taken a major hit post the initial phase of the season.

Carvalho has featured in a total of 20 matches for the Merseyside club and has managed just three goal involvements. He has failed to live up to the expectations of the manager and is expected to be on the move in the summer.

He penned down a five-year deal while joining the Reds. Despite his contract running until the summer of 2027, the 20-year-old could be on the move in the upcoming window.

Initially, he was expected to be loaned out but reports suggest Jurgen Klopp’s team is open to the idea of selling him on a permanent basis. The Merseyside club have struggled in the ongoing season because of inconsistent midfield performances.

The German manager is expected to make wholesale changes to the centre of the park ahead of next season. He is likely to offload quite a few players in the summer before pushing to sign multiple world-class midfielders. And, it seems Carvalho is no longer a part of his plan. As a result, they are willing to sell the 20-year-old prospect just a year after signing him from Fulham.
