Liverpool are interested in signing Moises Caicedo from Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion at the end of the season.
Moises Caicedo has established himself as a reliable Premier League midfielder, and his performances have captured the attention of Liverpool. A report from Daily Mirror, as relayed by Paisley Gates, claims that the Reds have been in touch regarding a summer move. And the Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder is expected to cost around £75 million.
Apparently, Liverpool are looking at other midfielders as well, including West Ham United captain Declan Rice and Fulham star Joao Palhinha. The Reds have reportedly made discreet enquiries regarding the England international, in particular.
Meanwhile, Caicedo is one of the most promising young midfielders around Europe right now, and he could prove to be a quality long-term acquisition for Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp needs to bring in a number of midfielders at the end of the season. And the Ecuador international has the potential to develop into a top-class player for Liverpool.
Jordan Henderson and Fabinho have not been at their best. So Liverpool must look to bring in a reliable holding midfielder. Caicedo can certainly take up that role and add some much-needed composure and defensive discipline to the Liverpool side.
It will be interesting to see if Liverpool are willing to pay the reported £75 million asking price for him in the summer. The Reds have linked with players like Jude Bellingham as well. But Liverpool have reportedly cooled their interest in the England international given the finances involved.
A deal to take Bellingham to Anfield and would cost around £135 million, and Liverpool simply do not have the finances to spend that kind of money on one player. They will be able to sign two midfielders at that price, and it remains to be seen who they end up with.
Caicedo was linked with a move to Arsenal during the January transfer window, and he publicly stated his desire to move to the north London club. It will be interesting to see if Arsenal return with an offer at the end of the season.

The midfielder is well-settled in the Premier League and is likely to make an immediate impact at Anfield if the transfer goes through at the end of the season. He deserves to play at a higher level now. So the opportunity to join Liverpool will be a tempting proposition for him. It will be a major step up in his career, and working with a world-class coach like Klopp will only help him develop further and fulfil his world-class potential.
