Mateo Retegui offered to Crystal Palace, Leeds United

Italian international Mateo Retegui has been linked with a summer move to England, with Crystal Palace and Leeds United in contention.

Mateo Retegui has been quite impressive during his loan spell at Atletico Tigre this season, scoring seven goals in nine matches. The 23-year-old is set to move to a European club at the end of the season. And the likes of Crystal Palace and Leeds have been offered the chance to sign him according to 90min.

The Italian international is owned by Boca Juniors, and it remains to be seen whether the two Premier League clubs come forward with an official bid for the talented young striker in the coming months.

It is no secret that Crystal Palace and Leeds United will need to improve their attacking options in the coming months. Crystal Palace have struggled to find the back of the net consistently, and they need a proven goalscorer.

While Retegui is a young player who is largely unproven, he has the potential to be a potent goalscorer for the London club. On the other hand, Leeds United have been crying out for someone who can share the goalscoring burden with Rodrigo Moreno.

Patrick Bamford has struggled to find the back of the net consistently, and the Italian international could prove to be an upgrade on him. Retegui will be hoping to continue his development with regular football, and a move to Crystal Palace or Leeds could be the ideal next step in his career.

The 23-year-old has the quality to adapt to English football and establish himself as a key player for the two clubs. Retegui will feel that a transfer to a Premier League club could help him hold down a regular starting spot for the Italian national team as well. He will be hoping to impress with regular football at a high level and nail down a place in Italy’s Euro 2024 squad.

Meanwhile, Leeds United and Crystal Palace are not the only English clubs linked with the young striker. The likes of Leicester City, Everton and Brentford are thought to be options for the 23-year-old Italian international as well.
