Dean Henderson available for £30 million, Tottenham no longer the favourites to sign him

Manchester United are open to selling Dean Henderson for £30 million, with Tottenham no longer in the running for the goalkeeper.

Dean Henderson’s future could point away from Manchester United, with the club ready to sell the keeper for £30 million. Football Insider reckons Tottenham are no longer in the race for the England international, who might explore other opportunities next summer.

Dean Henderson created a media storm last summer with his comments on Manchester United. The wantaway keeper claimed the club had ruined a year of his career with false promises as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reportedly went behind with promises of more game time.

David De Gea regained his No.1 spot after a brief hiatus under Solskjaer, and Henderson never got another opportunity despite impressing during his brief spell. Henderson signed a one-year loan deal with Nottingham Forest, where he excelled before suffering an untimely injury.

Winter arrival Keylor Navas has so far usurped his No.1 spot, and Steve Cooper may stick with the experienced Costa Rican. Henderson will return to Manchester United in the summer, with the club willing to sell him for £30 million.

With De Gea set to sign a new contract, there’s no place for the England international in Erik ten Hag’s setup. The Wantaway keeper will have to find a new club and hope there’s sufficient interest from Premier League sides in the summer.

Chelsea are thought to be keeping tabs on his situation as they look for a new keeper. They may not view him specifically as their new No.1 but consider him an option to replace one of Kepa Arrizabalaga or Edouard Mendy. Other names are on their list, including Illan Meslier and Robert Sanchez.

Tottenham had shown keen interest in Henderson over the last few months. Reports insisted they retained an admiration for the wantaway Manchester United star, but now the recent story suggests they might bow out of the race altogether.

Problems in the background that have troubled Tottenham may change their current transfer plans, including Henderson. Spurs have decided to replace the error-prone Hugo Lloris in the summer and may look at other options instead of Henderson.

Moreover, the £30 million asking price may not entice Spurs to sign the player, who is yet to perform to his best. Henderson may have to look at other options, but who will sign him for that asking price as things stand?
