Everton will have to pay around €9-10 million to acquire the services of 23-year-old Scottish midfielder Lewis Ferguson.
According to a report by Sport Italia, Bologna could sell midfielder Lewis Ferguson for €9-10 million amidst interest from Everton. The 23-year-old has had an impressive season so far and has attracted a lot of attention from across Europe.
Everton are one of the clubs interested in the Scottish midfielder. The Merseyside club are struggling for survival in the ongoing season. And, if they manage to stay in the English top flight, they will look to bring in reinforcements ahead of next season.
The Toffees are currently 18th in the Premier League. They have managed just 21 points out of their 25 outings. Sean Dyche has recently taken over the manager’s role at the club to help them avoid relegation.
One of their major concerns in the ongoing season has been the midfield. Dyche will look to add more quality to the centre of the park, and he has identified Lewis Ferguson as a possible target.
The 23-year-old joined Bologna in the summer of 2022. Ferguson has been one of their most important players in the league since joining them. He has made 19 appearances and has 3 goals to his name.
His current contract ends in the summer of 2026. Despite having quite a few years still left in his contract he might leave the Italian club in the summer.
Meanwhile, his agent Bill McMurdo has recently talked about the 23-year-old midfielder’s ambitions. Ferguson dreams of playing in the best leagues in Europe. He wants to feature in the UEFA Champions League. With interest from across the globe, his agent believes that Bologna might let him leave for €9-10 million in the summer.
Bill McMurdo said, “I think a price tag of €9-10m is a fair figure at the moment. He’s extremely happy in Bologna and loves life in Italy. Lewis has a deep belief that he can play in the best leagues in Europe.”
Meanwhile, Everton want to add more quality to their midfield. Ferguson’s arrival will bolster their midfield and also increase their squad depth. The 23-year-old is a versatile player who can also play as a defensive or an attacking midfielder.
While the Toffees do dream of having him in their ranks, they will have to make sure they survive in the English top flight to stand a chance of signing him. Meanwhile, they will also have to fight it out with Leicester City who are also interested in the Scottish midfielder.
