Borussia Dortmund midfield sensation Jude Bellingham is a priority transfer target for Merseyside club Liverpool.
According to Fabrizio Romano via CaughtOffside, England international Jude Bellingham is Liverpool’s priority transfer target for the summer. The Merseyside club is set to go all out to acquire the services of the 19-year-old midfielder.
The Borussia Dortmund midfielder has been performing at an exceptional level for the past few seasons. A lot of clubs from across Europe are keen on having his services. And, he is expected to make a move in the summer.
Liverpool are one of the clubs who have shown interest in bringing the 19-year-old to Anfield. And, Fabrizio Romano believes the Dortmund midfielder is a priority for the club.
Romano said: “Jude Bellingham remains the top target for Liverpool and for sure that won’t change. I think Liverpool will be linked with 15/20 midfielders in the next few months. We’ve seen Mason Mount, Ruben Neves, Ryan Gravenberch and many others.”
Bellingham has featured in 120 matches for the team in yellow since arriving in the summer of 2020. He has even led the team in quite a few fixtures of late. The England international is a star in the making.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are struggling in the ongoing season. They are currently 7th in the Premier League with 36 points out of 23 matches. It has been a season to forget for Jurgen Klopp’s team. The German manager will head into the transfer market in search of quite a few reinforcements ahead of next season.
Klopp will look to sign players for different positions but his key focus will be the midfield. Liverpool have a few concerns in the middle of the park and he will look to care of it before the next season begins.
The contracts of three Liverpool midfielders will expire in the summer. Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner are all set to be free agents. Even if they do not leave and end up signing an extension, the Merseyside club will still need new signings in the centre of the park.
A lot of their troubles in the ongoing season have been because of a struggling midfield. And, signing an elite midfielder is a necessity for Jurgen Klopp’s team. As a result, their interest in signing Jude Bellingham is understandable.
However, signing Bellingham won’t be that easy a task because of Real Madrid’s interest in the player. It will be quite a battle for the signature of the 19-year-old. Meanwhile, the Merseyside club are also linked with Matheus Nunes of Wolves. Romano believes Jurgen Klopp’s men could also push for the Portugal international. It will be interesting to see which player ends up joining Liverpool ahead of next season.
