Official: Tottenham complete Pedro Porro transfer

Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Pedro Porro from Sporting CP.

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the deal for Pedro Porro on their official website. And their statement confirms that the 23-year-old defender will join the club on loan until the end of the season. Spurs have an obligation to make the deal permanent in the summer. Furthermore, the statement also confirms that the Spanish defender will wear the number 23 shirt at Tottenham.

The north London club have been linked with a move for the Spaniard since the start of the month. But at one point it seemed like they would miss out on the Spanish defender. However, Spurs have managed to get the transfer across the line finally, and it remains to be seen whether the 23-year-old defender can make an immediate impact at his new club.

Porro has been in outstanding form this season, scoring three goals and picking up 11 assists across all competitions. The highly talented defender has enormous potential, and it will be interesting to see if Antonio Conte can help him develop and fulfill this potential in the coming seasons.

The 23-year-old has proven himself to be a reliable defender and he is equally good going forward. He will add a new dimension to the Tottenham attack during the second half of the campaign.

Conte’s system is hugely dependent on quality attacking full-backs, and the 23-year-old could play a key role for Tottenham in the coming seasons. The Spaniard has all the attributes to succeed in the Premier League, and it remains to be seen whether he can hit the ground running.

Tottenham are hoping to finish in the top four and secure UEFA Champions League qualification. A signing like Porro could certainly transform them and help them finish the season strongly. Porro will be looking to make the right-back spot his own in the coming weeks.

The defender is set to replace Matt Doherty in the Tottenham squad. The 31-year-old defender’s contract has been terminated earlier today, and the Republic of Ireland international has joined Spanish club Atletico Madrid on a free transfer.
