Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur will be vying for the service of Evan Ndicka, who has emerged as a target for both clubs.
As per Roma Giallorossa, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur will indulge in a fight for Eintracht Frankfurt’s 23-year-old defender Evan Ndicka. The French defender has been a revelation, and his current contract with the Bundesliga outfit will expire in the summer.
Newcastle United have made a strong start to the season, and the Magpies have managed to grab a place in the top four. Encouraging results on a consistent basis has been the reason behind their success, and Eddie Howe does not want to disrupt the momentum as of now.
Newcastle United have had Ndicka in their sights since the summer when the Magpies were searching for a defender. But a deal did not materialise and they went on to sign Sven Botman from Lille.
The Dutch defender has paired up with Fabian Schar at the heart of the Newcastle defence and has been monumental this campaign. Jamaal Lascelles could leave Newcastle in January, and with Dan Burn being utilised as a left-back, another defender is needed at St. James’ Park. The Magpies have shown interest in Benoit Badiashile.
Antonio Conte survived a scare as Tottenham Hotspur somehow kept their place intact in the top four. A number of shambolic performances almost dented their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League knockout stage, but they have managed to keep their hopes alive.
The north Londoners will be forced to dig deep in the January transfer market for an additional body who would be able to offer adequate cover in an emergency situation. Tottenham brought in Clement Lenglet from Barcelona on loan, but the French defender will leave next summer, while Davinson Sanchez has not really grabbed his chances so far.
Frankfurt know they will be flooded with offers in January, and the Bundesliga outfit will likely hand over Ndicka to the highest bidder. The 23-year-old led them to the Europa League title last season and has maintained his steady growth by being ever-present in their backline throughout this season. It remains to be seen if any of Newcastle or Tottenham get to fulfil their wish finally.
