Newcastle United willing to pay up to €13 million to sign Maximo Perrone

Newcastle United could pay around €13 million to secure Velez Sarsfield’s highly-rated midfielder, Maximo Perrone.

According to Sport Witness, Newcastle United are closing in on securing Maximo Perrone from Velez Sarsfield. The Magpies are willing to pay around €13 million to land the Argentine midfielder, while personal terms are close to an agreement.

Newcastle United are likely to continue with their trend of bringing in specific players. The idea is to design the squad as per Eddie Howe’s conditions and not splash only based on reputation.

While the Magpies have been successful since the takeover last year, January represents another test. Newcastle United may not make a large outlay in the winter window despite some reports. But Howe will certainly like to make a few essential additions.

On one side, Newcastle United remain in a terrific position to finish in the top four. They might also get considered in the title challenge if they continue their form. While the Magpies do not have European commitments now, they might want to keep the compact shape of their squad.

Yet, links with a few high-profile players continue to persist. The Tyneside outfit are reportedly closing in on signing Velez Sarsfield’s 19-year-old Argentine midfielder Maximo Perrone in January.

Earlier reports insisted Newcastle United might trigger his €9 million release clause. But the latest indications point towards Velez Sarsfield demanding more than that. The new story suggests the Magpies may end up paying around €13 million to sign the Argentine midfielder.

Howe wants the attacking midfielder in January to help him develop into a future star. Moreover, Perrone only has limited experience, playing around 33 games for Velez Sarsfield. Yet, his performances have shown promising signs that he could become a future star.

Whether Velez Sarsfield agree to Newcastle United’s terms for a reported €13 million deal remains the question. The lure of the Magpies, particularly after their recent rise under Howe, could be enough to tempt the player.

The report also suggests Newcastle United may have agreement on personal terms with Perrone and his agents. For now, it is safe to assume the Magpies are closer than ever to securing the Argentine midfielder and bringing him on board in January.
