Manchester United have managed to arrest their poor start to the season with three back-to-back league victories over Southampton, Leicester City and Liverpool. Erik ten Hag’s side will be relatively confident heading into the contest against Arsenal on Sunday, and they will be expected to pick up all three points.
Manchester United completed the big-money signing of Antony from Ajax towards the end of the summer transfer window, and the 22-year-old is very much in line to make his debut at Old Trafford against Arsenal on Sunday.
The Brazilian has been training with his new teammates since Friday, and he was in the stands when his new club were up against Leicester City in the last outing. Meanwhile, Manchester United will be without the services of Anthony Martial because of an injury.
Speaking to the media during his pre-match press conference, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has also confirmed that Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Luke Shaw are major doubts for the game against Arsenal while also speaking about Antony’s progress.

The Manchester United boss said, “It’s difficult to say when I talk about Luke Shaw and Aaron, but Anthony Martial will not be involved on Sunday. Today (Thursday), he [Antony] did his first training, so [an] individual [session]. Tomorrow (Friday), we have a team session and on Saturday we have a team session, so I will think about it and then we will take a decision.”
It is fair to assume that Diogo Dalot and Tyrell Malacia will be the full-backs for Manchester United against Arsenal. Meanwhile, Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane are set to keep their places as the two centre-backs this weekend, with David de Gea starting between the sticks.
The duo has been excellent for Manchester United so far, and the Red Devils have improved defensively ever since Martinez has been partnered with Varane at the heart of ten Hag’s defence. Despite the arrival of Martin Dubravka, David de Gea is set to continue as Manchester United’s first-choice shot-stopper against Arsenal.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are expected to employ a three-man midfield comprising Christian Eriksen, Bruno Fernandes and Scott McTominay, with Casemiro starting on the bench against. Cristiano Ronaldo is also set to be resigned to the bench once again.
Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Anthony Elanga will form Manchester United’s offensive unit. Antony is expected to make a cameo as a substitute, with Fred another option on the bench against Arsenal.
