Manchester United turn down West Ham, Crystal Palace approaches for Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Crystal Palace and West Ham United are reportedly interested in signing Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

According to a report from The Athletic, Manchester have rebuffed approaches from the Crystal Palace and West Ham United for the 24-year-old defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Wan-Bissaka has dropped down the pecking order at Old Trafford this season, and he has made just one cameo appearance for Manchester United against Liverpool in the Premier League so far. It is evident that he is not a key part of Erik ten Hag’s first-team plans.

But the Manchester United manager is not keen on weakening his squad any further and wants to retain the former Crystal Palace defender as a backup option to Diogo Dalot. Wan-Bissaka has had an underwhelming time at Old Trafford since moving to Manchester United from Crystal Palace three years ago for a fee of around £50 million.

Although the 24-year-old has proven himself to be a reliable defender, his ineffectiveness going forward has been a major concern. On the other hand, Dalot offers a lot more going forward and has been starting for the Red Devils as a result of that.

It will be interesting to see if Wan-Bissaka can fight his way back into the starting lineup over the next few weeks. The 24-year-old was highly rated before his move to Manchester United, and he has a lot of time to get his career back on track.

There is no doubt that Wan-Bissaka is a talented young defender who has a big future ahead of him. However, he needs to work on the offensive side of his game in order to succeed as a full-back at a top club, even though he is attracting interest from Barcelona.

West Ham and Crystal Palace could definitely use more depth and quality in the defensive department. And it is no surprise that the Hammers and the Eagles are looking to take advantage of Wan-Bissaka’s situation at Manchester United and secure his services.

It will be interesting to see if either of West Ham and Crystal Palace decide to come back with an improved offer before the window closes. The 24-year-old will hope to play as much as possible this season, and if Manchester United cannot provide him with the platform, he might look to move on.
