OGC Nice eye Manchester United starlet Amad Diallo

OGC Nice are reportedly eyeing a loan move for Manchester United starlet Amad Diallo as an alternative for Arsenal outcast Nicolas Pepe.

According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United prospect Amad Diallo has emerged as a loan target for Ligue 1 club OGC Nice, as a potential alternative for Arsenal star Nicolas Pepe.

Diallo joined Manchester United from Italian club Atalanta in January last year in a deal worth around £37 million. An exciting prospect, the 20-year-old is yet to establish a foothold in the first-team setup at Old Trafford and has played only nine times so far, scoring and assisting one goal apiece.

Diallo spent the second half of the last season away on loan at Rangers, where he netted three goals in 13 games. Back at Manchester United, the Ivorian does not feature in the immediate plans of manager Erik ten Hag and is primed to leave the club on loan before the transfer window closes in less than two weeks.

And OGC Nice have emerged as a possible destination for Amad Diallo. The Ligue 1 outfit are keen on strengthening their attacking unit, more so having failed any of their matches so far in the new season. Manager Lucien Favre has his sights set on Arsenal outcast Nicolas Pepe as his primary target to reinforce his frontline.

The former LOSC Lille winger is out of favour at Arsenal and has been linked with a return to Ligue 1 this summer, with Nice among the clubs interested. They are working on a deal to sign the 27-year-old Ivorian international on loan, but have identified Diallo as Plan B in case their pursuit of the Arsenal star fails.

Diallo has several players like Jadon Sancho, Anthony Elanga and Marcus Rashford ahead of him in the pecking order at Manchester United, who are also planning on signing another wide player, with Antony of AFC Ajax emerging as a target. So, a loan move away from Old Trafford would be the best course of action to continue his development.

Apart from Nice, Amad is also attracting interest from EFL Championship clubs like Blackpool and Sunderland. So, it will be intriguing to see where the 20-year-old ends as a loan move away from Manchester United looms.
