Leeds United are pondering a move for Che Adams, with an agreement with Southampton a possibility in the coming days.
According to The Sun, Che Adams is a target for Leeds United as Jesse Marsch wants a new centre-forward ahead of the new season. The Yorkshire side are weighing up a £10 million offer for the Scotland international, and a deal could possibly be agreed with Southampton for a slightly higher price.
Che Adams has been a hit-and-miss performer in a Southampton shirt, and his numbers have been disappointing for a frontman. Having played nearly 110 games for the Saints, the Scotland international has managed just 21 strikes.
With the arrival of Sekou Mara in a £12 million deal from Bordeaux, Southampton have the means to let go of a player like Che Adams. However, the Saints will have to be convinced with a reasonable offer, as Leeds United are reportedly keen on signing the forward.
Leeds United are keen on bringing in a new striker before the season starts, as Jesse Marsch has not been able to find a viable solution so far. They were desperate to sign Charles De Ketelaere, who is likely to join AC Milan in the coming days.
Hence, they are searching for alternative targets, with Che Adams emerging as a player they like. Leeds are hoping a £10 million offer will be enough to convince Southampton, but the South Coast club could demand more for the Scotland international.
Che Adams joined Southampton from Birmingham in a £15 million deal, and with two years left on his contract, the Saints are likely to ask for a bigger fee than £10 million. However, Leeds are optimistic they can agree on a deal.
Marsch has been keen to bring a forward as a backup for Patrick Bamford. However, with the club missing out on other targets, Che Adams could become a viable alternative. The Whites are linked with PSG’s Arnaud Kalimuendo, who is available this summer, but there is a lot of competition for the youngster, forcing them to look at Adams.
Leeds would want a deal agreed upon before the season begins next weekend. Adams could be open to a move if he could get regular game time at Elland Road.
