West Ham United have reportedly agreed personal terms with 23-year-old Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca over a €36 million summer move.
According to Italian football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Sassuolo attacker Gianluca Scamacca is set to join West Ham United after agreeing personal terms with them. The 23-year-old Italian international has been a long-term target for the Hammers, along with Chelsea’s Armando Broja to solve their striker crisis.
West Ham United have just Michail Antonio as the recognized forward on their roster and have come into the summer transfer window with signing a number nine as topmost on their priority list. They drew out a shortlist which included Scamacca, and the Hammers were quick to make their move.
The London outfit reportedly agreed to a transfer fee with the Serie A club last week, with Romano revealing that Sassuolo will receive €36 million plus €6 million in add-ons and have also included a 10 per cent sell-on clause.
The 23-year-old was among the best strikers in Serie A last season, scoring 16 goals in 36 league appearances. He had also netted 12 goals across all competitions for Genoa in the 2020/21 season while on loan at the Italian club. Scamacca still has four years remaining on his contract with Sassuolo but now seems destined for a move to West Ham.

The London outfit will provide the Italian international with European football as they qualified for the UEFA Europa Conference League after finishing seventh in the Premier League last season. The Hammers are keen to continue challenging for European spots and have thus been eager to strengthen their attacking department.
Scamacca’s impending arrival also means that their pursuit of Chelsea’s 20-year-old striker Armando Broja has come to an end. The Albanian forward spent the 2021/22 season on loan at Southampton and looks set to leave the west London club this summer as he does not feature in Thomas Tuchel’s plans going forward.
Arsenal were also said to be showing interest in Scamacca but brought an end to their pursuit following the arrival of Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City. It will be interesting to see if West Ham can quickly wrap up the deal to sign the 23-year-old Italian international after agreeing personal terms with him.
