Bayern Munich end interest in Harry Kane

German giants Bayern Munich have reportedly dropped their interest in Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane.

According to Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg on Twitter, Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich have ended their interest in securing the services of Tottenham Hotspur superstar Harry Kane.

The English international is one of the finest goalscorers in world football and has been prolific for both club and country over the years. His individual brilliance has, however, not seen him land any trophies, and it is a glaring blot in an otherwise successful career.

Good in the air and with the ball at his feet, Kane is a complete striker. He has also added creativity to his arsenal in the last couple of season and has shown the ability to perform as not just a target man. This versatility, if anything, increases his impact and makes him a much harder opponent to go up against.

Bayern have one of this generation’s greatest strikers in Robert Lewandowski in their roster and know what having an infallible goalscorer upfront can achieve. The Polish veteran is not getting any younger and has been heavily linked with a summer move to Barcelona.

While Sadio Mane’s arrival will hand the Bavarians an alternative to be used in the number nine role, the Senegalese is far from prolific up front, at least in comparison to the numbers that Lewandowski puts up. It thus makes sense that Die Roten have had a look at securing Kane this summer.

Bayern Munich have, however, now dropped that keenness and will not pursue a move for the Tottenham forward this summer. While things could change in the summer of 2023, Kane looks set for another season in north London, this time leading Antonio Conte’s charge for trophies.

The Italian manager’s arrival at N-17 has breathed new impetus into Tottenham’s ambitions, and this has prompted them to invest heavily in the summer transfer window. The arrivals of Ivan Perisic, Yves Bissouma, and Clement Lenglet (on loan) dovetail with the January acquisitions of Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur.

The key piece in Tottenham’s ambitions is retaining Kane, and it would appear that they have nothing to worry about this summer. With no transfer saga to distract him, the 28-year-old can focus his attention on leading Tottenham to a trophy or more in the 2022/23 campaign.
