FC Porto have reportedly rejected a €30 million bid from Leeds United for 27-year-old Portuguese attacker Otavio.
According to Portuguese journalist Pedro Sepulveda, FC Porto have rejected a €30 million bid from Leeds United on Wednesday for Portuguese right-winger Otavio. The 27-year-old has been attracting interest from the Premier League recently, but just the Whites have reportedly made an official approach.
Aston Villa are also among the English clubs showing interest in the Portuguese international. But contrary to recent reports, the Villans have not made an official move for Otavio. Everton have also reportedly made a recent enquiry for the Portuguese attacker but are yet to make an official approach.
Leeds United are aiming to strengthen the first-team squad in multiple positions after narrowly avoiding relegation in the recently-concluded season. The West Yorkshire club finished 17th on the table and are eager to avoid a repeat of the previous campaign.
The Jesse Marsch-managed side are also likely to lose Brazilian winger Raphinha, with Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and Barcelona vying for his signature. The Gunners are said to be currently leading the race for the 25-year-old, but that transfer saga is yet to reach its conclusion.

Otavio’s performance in the 2021/22 season has caught the eyes of many potential suitors. The Portuguese international provided 13 assists in the league for FC Porto on top of scoring three goals, to take his tally to 24 goals and 62 assists in seven seasons with the Portuguese giants.
Otavio is a crucial player for Porto manager Sergio Conceicao, and the Portuguese champions are not ready to part ways with him easily, which explains why they rejected the €30 million offer from Leeds United. With three years still remaining on his contract with Porto, they will only be convinced to sell if the player’s release clause of €60 million is triggered.
Earlier this summer, reports claimed that the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United were also monitoring the Portuguese attacker’s situation with an eye on a summer move. The 27-year-old is adept at playing in all positions behind the striker, which could prove to be useful for the side that ends up signing him this summer. It will be interesting to see if Leeds step up their pursuit.
