Premier League sides West Ham United and Fulham have reportedly made contact with Juventus left-back Luca Pellegrini’s entourage.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Tutto Mercato Web), Juventus’ 23-year-old left-back Luca Pellegrini is set to leave the club this summer. He is attracting interest from the Premier League, with both West Ham United and Fulham showing interest.
Pellegrini was bought by Juventus from AS Roma in 2019 but he has since failed to get a consistent run of games for the club. The full-back spent two loan spells at Cagliari and Genoa before being named in the Juventus first-team for the 2021/22 season.
The Italy international was limited to sporadic appearances, however, playing 21 matches for the club across competitions. He was also linked with a January move, with West Ham United said to be showing interest. But he ultimately stayed put to finish the season with the Bianconeri.
Even though Pellegrini still has three years left on his contract with the club, he now looks set for an exit. West Ham United, who had been showing interest in him from last year, have now re-entered the market for the former AS Roma full-back again.
David Moyes currently has Arthur Masuaku and Aaron Creswell as his two left-back options and wants to add reinforcements in the department. West Ham finished seventh in the recently-concluded Premier League season, qualifying for the UEFA Europa Conference League and need depth in the squad to compete strongly on all fronts.
With there being a likelihood of Masuaku being sold, West Ham will need new personnel in the left-back position, making Pellegrini a viable target. However, they will face competition from Fulham for the Juventus defender.
Fulham recently gained promotion to the Premier League after finishing atop the Championship table. They are eager to strengthen multiple positions to prolong their stay in the English top-flight, with a goalkeeper, an attacker and a full-back on their wishlist.
Pellegrini would join Antonee Robinson and Joe Bryan as left-backs at Fulham should he make the move to Craven Cottage. The newly-promoted side are also reportedly looking at FC Porto full-back Zaidu Sanusi as a target, apart from Pellegrini. With both West Ham United and Fulham in contact with Pellegrini’s representatives, it remains to be seen where he ends up this summer.
